Dr Jie Yu is currently a Research Fellow in the Cardiovascular Program at the George Institute for Global Health and a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. She completed her PhD in Cardiology at Peking University in 2007 supported by Peking University Outstanding Residency Program.

Prior to joining the George Institute in 2018, Jie is a specialist Cardiologist and Associate Professor in the Peking University Third Hospital where she has also successfully obtained research funding from Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA) and Peking University in the past 5 years.

Jie‘s research involves cardiometabolic disease prevention and management closely linked to her strong clinical background and commits to conduct high-quality research focus on salt reduction strategies in low-middle income countries. From 2018, Dr Jie Yu leads the Endpoint Adjudication Committee for the Salt Substitute and Stroke Study (SSaSS) and leads the Salt Substitute in India Study (SSiIS) which is the first trial to test the effects of salt substitute on blood pressure in rural India. In addition, she accumulates strong experiences in translating research findings to impact clinical practice through undertaking secondary analyses from large-scale SGLT2 inhibitor clinical trials - CANVAS Program and CREDENCE.
