Dr Sanne Peters awarded spot on the World Heart Federation’s prestigious Emerging Leaders Programme

Dr Sanne Peters, Research Fellow in Epidemiology at The George Institute for Global Health at the University of Oxford, has been awarded a spot on the World Heart Federation’s Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme alongside 24 other experts working to reduce early death from cardiovascular disease.

The 2019 cohort includes individuals from academia, civil society, healthcare and the private sector from 18 countries across 5 continents, all of whom were selected for their passion for improving cardiovascular health around the world, and their proven commitment to addressing heart failure.

“I am delighted to have been recognised for my research around the prevention of cardiovascular disease and commitment to improving women’s health alongside such remarkable peers. The Emerging Leaders programme has a record of driving positive change, and I look forward to being a part of it”, said Dr Peters.

Dr Peters will join this year’s cohort to participate in online training, a five-day think tank seminar that will be held in London this October, and collaborative group work supported by seed-funding from the World Heart Federation. The programme is now in its sixth year. Previous cohorts have focused on tobacco prevention and control, essential medicines, and stroke.
