World Health Day breakfast and panel discussion 2013

The theme for World Health Day 2013 was hypertension, the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Hypertension is strongly linked to diet and exercise, with salt intake, obesity and inadequate exercise identified as potent causes of hypertension as well as other lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes.

The 2013 World Health Day Breakfast brought together a panel of national and international experts to discuss how we can tackle the national health crisis caused by our lifestyle. The panel discussed the responsibility of individuals, the medical profession, government, industry and researchers to create positive change and extend life- expectancy again.
